Children's Ministry Summer Activities

There are several family-friendly events planned for the summer.

On Saturday, June 21 we traveled to Peoria to see the Peoria Chiefs and the Christian band, Rush of Fools it was a great time!

Join us after church on Sunday, August 10 as we go to Washington Park to have a picnic. We will eat lunch and have some fun playing games. We’ll bring hot dogs, drinks and utensils, we ask that you please bring a dish to pass. Be sure to wear clothes that can get wet, because there will be water balloons-a-plenty!

Sunday, August 24 will be Rev. Wade Allen's last day at Central Baptist Church. We will celebrate his ministry at Central and what God is doing in his life that morning as one church family at 11 a.m. We will also say our goodbyes to Wade, Christy, Anna, Dawson and Levi.

Wade Is Following God's Call

The purpose of this letter is to announce my resignation as Associate Pastor at Central Baptist Church effective August 25, 2008. I have accepted the call as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana. This decision comes with a degree of sadness, yet with some measure of excitement. As many of you know, God has been revealing His call in my life to serve as a senior pastor for some time now. I was first contacted by First Baptist in January, but have been hesitant to leave Central. However, over the past few months, God has clarified this direction for our family.

Are Finances a Problem?

Central Baptist Church will host a "Financial Peace University" course beginning Sunday, August 31. The program is the brain-child of radio host Dave Ramsey, a financial expert listened to nationally by more than 3.5 million every week.

The 13-week course which includes video classes and group discussion has changed lives all across the country. More than 500,000 families have completed the program at their workplace, church, and other locations and are working toward debt freedom and "financial peace."

Applying Bible Principles for August

There are some wonderful principles in the Old Testament which apply to present-day Christians. One of these is in Deuteronomy 8:10-18. Stated in contemporary language, it says, "When you have eaten and are full, and when your cars, houses and bank accounts multiply, don't forget where it came from: Remember the Lord your God."

Kumler Food Pantry

We continue to collect non-perishable food for the Kulmer Food Pantry. Baskets are available in the Welcome Center and in the Narthex at the church.

Kumler is also in need of monetary donations to help fund their prescription assistance program. Simply make your check out to Central Baptist Church and note "Kumler Rx program" in the memo line. You may send it to the church or place it in the offering plate on Sunday.

Good-Old Days Books
Don and Virginia Spratt have donated five “Good-Old Days” books to our Library. These books take a nostalgic look at the early part of the 20th century in America. The following books may be found in the New Book Section of the Library:

Country Roads (2003): Before there were highways, freeways, and interstates there were country roads and this book tells their stories.

Not Just Holy Day Christians

People tend to think of Christmas and Easter as the busy times of year for a church. Certainly Christmas and Easter are occasions when a lot of people show up for special services. But in reality, our church has a full life all year long, not just at Christmas and Easter.

Wednesday Night News

We will not meet for dinner during the month of August. This allows our cooking crew to take a much-deserved break. Dinners and choir rehearsal will resume on Wednesday, September 10.

The direct giving will automatically deduct your offering each week, bi-weekly or monthly as you choose so you do not have to worry about, “did I make my offering this week?” You can easily make changes in giving or frequency as you need to with a new form.
